CCSO Gearing Up For Click It Or Ticket

Buckle up or pay up.

Click It or Ticket is here once again.

And the Collier County Sheriff’s Office will be cracking down on motorists who aren’t buckled up during the annual nationwide safety belt enforcement campaign.

This year’s Click It or Ticket Memorial Day campaign runs May 19 to June 1. During last year’s campaign, from May 21 to June 1, CCSO deputies wrote 2,731 safety belt citations, the second highest number of any law enforcement agency in Florida.

All vehicles will be a target to see if the driver and their passengers are wearing their seat belt.

Some basics:
- The driver and front-seat passenger must wear a seat belt.
- Anyone younger than 18 must wear a seat belt no matter where they are sitting.
- Getting a ticket for not wearing a seat belt will cost you $73.50. A ticket for violation of child restraint violations will cost you $120.50.
